The Programme

This is a fascinating course which seeks to develop awareness of students own communication ability and gain a qualification which complements a wide range of other AS/A Levels.
The Programme Content
There are two units explored in the AS year and two that follow into A2. There is a balance between coursework and final exam. The first two units focus on the basics of communications and culture. Understanding new concepts and applying them to everyday life situations. The second unit is coursework based and requires the student to develop a portfolio, responding to a series of questions set by the exam board and directly related to current cultural and communication issues. The final part of this assessment takes the form of an electronic presentation which allows the student to experiment with new communication technologies. In the second year, students will begin to develop an awareness of wider communication and cultural issues and will complete a practical case study.
Progression / Careers
A very wide range of degree courses is open to students, including Advertising, Public Relations, Cultural Studies, Business Studies, Psychology, Media courses and many other subjects unavailable at college or school.
