What qualification will I receive?
Certificate in Community Interpreting (LOCN) Level 3 or Level 2.
Where can it lead?
Successful students will help family and friends, and gain more experience in interpreting, after which there is the possibility of improved employment prospects, and in certain cases, progressing to the DPSI interpreting course.
What will I study?
Introduction to the following Public Service areas: Housing Benefits Education Health Law and practising the following applied language skills: Building a glossary Interpreting practice through role-play Developing awareness of different cultures Professional code of conduct
How will I be taught?
Discussion work, essays, role plays, interpreting sessions, presentations ( there is no formal exam)
How will I be assessed?
Continuous assessment after the completion of each Unit of work a) 2 role plays b) two essays c) glossary of terms.
What support is available while I am on the course?
You will have access to a personal tutor to help you throughout the course and the College offers a comprehensive range of student services including learning and language support and guidance.
