What's it all about?:
This level 3 qualification is an advanced vocational qualification which focuses on the development of practical skills and underlying principles required in the complementary therapies sector.
This qualification has been designed to:
- meet the needs of students who want to practice professionally as a therapist
- meet the core curriculum criteria of the regulating forums for massage therapy, aromatherapy and reflexology
- provide a broad background understanding of complementary and alternative therapies
- provide an awareness of the range of jobs and work settings in the sector
- allow students to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the complementary therapies sector
- enable students to make an informed assessment of their own aptitude for work in this sector and to make informed decisions about careers; returning to work, career development options or possible career change.

You may progress to the Foundation Dergree in Complementary Therapies offers at the College
Entry Requirements:
In our experience in order to be successful on this level of course you will need one of the following:
· four to five* GCSEs at grades A*-C (including English and maths)
· an intermediate GNVQ in a related subject
· a BTEC first diploma in a related subject
· an NVQ level 2/technical certificate in a related subject
· successful completion of an apprenticeship programme
· successful completion of the Gateway/Newstart programme
· equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.
* A level candidates will be expected to have five GCSEs
Duration: One year Course Overview
What does the course involve?:
This qualification is recognised and accepted for membership by professional associations such as the Aromatherapy and Allied Practitioners Association, and the International Federation of Reflexologists.
You will study:
-reflexology
-body massage
-aromatherapy
-anatomy and physiology and pathology
-advanced pathology
-business practice
-reflective practice
-principles and practice of complementary therapies
-key skills
In addition to the above, you will be given the opportunity to take:
-first aid
-nutrition level 3 diploma.
