Most IT professionals start their IT career working in IT Support or Helpdesk roles. The CompTIA A+ gives you the skills and the knowledge to work in a professional IT Support environment.
The CompTIA A+ proves competence in areas such as hardware, networking, maintenance, operating systems, security and troubleshooting.
As with all CompTIA certifications, the CompTIA A+ is globally recognised and is the ideal way to ‘break into the IT industry’.
The CompTIA A+ certification process consists of 2 exams:
CompTIA A+ 220-801 covers the fundamentals of computer technology, installation and configuration of PCs, laptops and related hardware, and basic networking.
CompTIA A+ 220-802 covers the skills required to install and configure PC operating systems, as well as configuring common features (e.g. network connectivity and email) for mobile operating systems Android and Apple iOS).
Once you have completed the CompTIA A+, then consider the CompTIA Network+ and Operating System courses like Windows 7.
A combination of these courses will give you the skills employers are looking for to work in a 1st line support environment. 1st Line Support is where you will find the bulk of entry level IT jobs.
