Course programme

Course overview
The course offers a flexible approach to study, working at your own pace. The skills developed can be applied to many vocations, for example Construction or Electrical engineering. There are 2 levels of study, level 2 and 3. At a beginner’s level the favoured course is the level 2 2D and Level 3 D and 3D are available for those who wish to progress for a second year. Parametric modelling is also available at levels 1, 2 and 3. A City and Guild online test and exam are optional but highly recommended to ensure you’re appropriately rewarded for their efforts. The course commences in October and is delivered in a purpose designed CAD suite with Auto CAD 2015 available. The course finishes in late May.
Who is this course for?
This course is aimed at students who wish to become technically qualified in Computer Aided Drawing (CAD). The course runs on a part time basis for 29 weeks, on a Thursday evening from between 6.00pm and 9.00pm, although some of the programmes have a later start at 7.00pm. You will work at your own pace through a set programme on a computer with a 2015 licensed version of CAD already installed. An instruction booklet (to keep) can be purchased for an extra cost of £12.50, this will help to guide you through some of the more difficult tasks. There is no formal entry level qualification; however a good appreciation of operating a PC is expected. Some students will already be practising and working as CAD technicians and wish to develop their existing CAD skills or alternatively be working to become technically qualified.
