The course aims to increase a candidate's knowledge in IT using different software applications to successfully complete and manage documents to the standards necessary for this qualification, which are directly relevant to the workplace (this qualification replaces CLAIT). Suitable for: complete beginners as well as for those students who already have typing/word processing skills and wish to learn to use other applications

Course description:
Computer Literacy & Information Technology (New CLAIT) OCR Level 1
Course Aims
NEW CLAIT (revised 2006) is a Level 1 Certificate or Diploma and provides a nationally recognised standard in IT.
Course Content
To achieve the New CLAIT Certificate, Unit 1 and two additional units must be passed.
To achieve the New CLAIT Diploma
Unit 1 and four additional units must be passed.
The Units are:
Unit 1 File Management and document Presentation
Unit 2 Creating Spreadsheets and Graphs
Unit 3 Database Manipulation
Unit 4 Publication Creation
Unit 5 Creating a Presentation
Unit 6 Image Creation
Unit 7 Web Page creation
Unit 8 Online Communication
Course Assessment
Modules are separately assessed and moderated by the tutor via an OCR set assignment. Each assignment is a maximum of 2 hours duration and will be undertaken during normal class hours.
