Using a combination of work-based learning and lectures, we’ll help you develop a thorough understanding of computing theory, principles and technologies, along with practical training in how to apply them to many different fields and needs.
In year one you’ll cover the fundamentals of design, programming, computing systems and operating systems, before progressing to more specialist areas in year two - such as software engineering, networking, database design and user experience.
Your final year will take you deeper still – and there’ll be a research-based major project to propose and complete in a computer science topic of your choice.
Thoughout the course there’s a good range of optional modules that will let you personalise your studies in line with your career goals – and we’ll provide career guidance, as well as personal development, ready for the professional workplace.

About this course
Our graduates go on to successful careers in many industries and fields including software development, database administration, networking, web and support. The qualification provides an ideal basis for postgraduate study or research.
If you have a computer science or IT-related HND or foundation degree you may be able to begin this course in years two or three.
We’ve excellent facilities on-campus, including a computer science laboratory equipped with industry-standard hardware and software. Course content is constantly developing, in line with the latest research, technology and industry demands.
By the time you graduate you’ll be a highly trained computer scientist, with a sound general knowledge of the field, a solid range of specialisms and the skills needed to translate user needs and available technologies into creative solutions.
