Overview
This course is for current and future teachers who aim to develop their knowledge and skills for the new Computer Science Curriculum. The aim is to equip teachers with the practical knowledge and understanding necessary to teach Computer Science with confidence in line with the new AQA and OCR curriculum and will indicate the way that the curriculum may go in the future. It will be run as an evening session for a duration of 8 weeks which will expose students to a wide range of technologies and cutting edge material using Python and Processing languages to encourage the creative and imaginative use of Computer Science in the classroom.
Course Leader: Dr David Reid
Dr David Reid is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from Liverpool University in 1995.
Research Area: Spiking Neural Networks, High Performance Computing and Novel Computer Architectures
Teaching Area: Introduction to Computer Science, Web Innovations, Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing, Object Oriented Software Design , Gaming and Entertainment Technologies.
