About this course


The course aims to enable understudies to: To provide the foundations for understanding of core ideas, methods and technologies in computer science.
To provide the technical skills and background material so that the postgraduate will be able to conduct a near state of the art research or development project with a specialisation in visualisation.
To provide the graduate with a range of specialist and transferable skills;
To provide the educational base for further professional development and lifelong learning.



A 2(ii) undergraduate Honours degree in Computer Science is required.

Applicants from overseas must in addition demonstrate competence in English to level IELTS 6.0 overall and no element under 5.5. An appopriate ELCOS (Bangor University English Language School) pre sessional course may be taken to achieve the required English language level.

Course structure: Semester 1 ICP 4131: Research Project Foundations (15) ICP 4142: Information Visualization (15) Semester 2 ICP 4123: Tech for Internet Systems (15) ICP 4133: Virtual Env & Human Perception (15) credits from: ICP 4191: Comp Project and Dissertation (60) 30 credits from: ICP 4029: Data Networks & Communications ICP 4127: Distributed Systems Student Study Support All students are assigned a designated supervisor, an academic member of staff who will provide formal supervision and support on a daily basis. The School’s Director of Postgraduate Studies will ensure that the appropriate level of support and guidance is available for all postgraduate students, and each Course Director is available to help and advise their students as and when required.
