Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be able understand the basic principles of book-keeping to do this course?
Ideally yes as this will help you understand the fundamentals, however, it is not essential.
Do I have to know how to use a computer?
Yes. This course is not designed to show you how to use a computer, it assumes that you already have computer skills but does not assume any knowledge of the sage accounting software.
How much committment do I need to make to the course?
This course has two hours 30 minutes taught time per week, but you will be expected to do homework which will average another two hours per week (depending on present skills and knowledge). It is essential that students attend most, if not all, of the lessons and therefore consideration needs to be given to other committments before enrolling on this course (although we do understand that holidays may have already been booked).
How do I enter for the examination?
The registration form will be completed in class after a few weeks of starting the course.
When is the examination?
The examination will be held mid June 2010. The exact date will be confirmed by your tutor. Whenever possible, the exam is sat at the same venue and time of the normal lesson.

2 hours (Set by exam board and subject to change).
What percentage do I need to achieve to pass the exam?
The pass mark is 65% (Set by exam board and subject to change).
How soon will I know if I have passed the examination?
IAB will notify you of your results approximately 10 weeks following the exam.
