Computing BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC)

Course Overview
Equivalent for the first year of a Degree programme, this course is ideal for those who want to be able to earn while they develop higher level knowledge and skills for the future.

Course Structure
This is a two-year programme and attendance will be one day a week: Tuesday from 9.15am 6.15pm.

The course is delivered in ten units; five of which are taken in the first year and five in the second.

The programme includes:

• Systems Analysis
• Computer Networking
• Website Design
• PC Hardware
• Visual Programming
• Database design & information systems

BTEC Higher National Certificate in Computing (General)

Assessments/Examinations
The assessment process uses a variety of methods including case studies,assignments, time-controlled assessments, practical laboratory sessions and individual research projects.

Cost / Equipment
Tuition & Registration fee:£650 per year

£25 (non-refundable) payment towards the cost of stationery and consumables (£50 in total).

Students can apply for a Student Loan and/or grant to help pay for the course.

Requirement
Candidates will ideally possess a BTEC National Award/Certificate/Diploma in a related discipline or one A Level or equivalent. Candidates must be over 18. Applications are welcomed from mature students who do not possess standard qualifications but can demonstrate relevant work experience and ability to study at this level. All applicants will be asked to an interview prior to the commencement of the course.
