This two-year course will provide you with the required knowledge and technical skills to further your studies in the field of computing.
You will develop skills in a wide range of computing disciplines including Computer Science, Hardware, Software, Computer Networking and Programming.
This course includes industry standard qualifications such as Cisco Networking,Microsoft MTA Server and Security certifications that may help you progress in the IT industry.
On successful completion of the course you may progress to a University course in Computer Science, Computer Systems, Networking or Business and IT – or you may choose to study for a relevant Foundation Degree or Honours Degree at Leeds City College.
For those planning to apply to university this Level 3 Extended Diploma is equivalent to 3 ‘A’ Levels or up to 420 UCAS points.

To achieve the Level 3 Extended Diploma you will study 18 BTEC units over two years: Communication and Employability Skills for IT Computer Systems Information Systems Impact of the Use of IT on Business Managing Networks Computer Networks Systems Analysis and Design IT Technical Support IT Systems Troubleshooting and Repair Object Oriented Programming Computer Architecture Controlling Systems Using IT Maintaining Computer Systems Website Production Installing and Upgrading Software Networked Systems Security Introduction to Networks Cisco CCNA1 Routing and Switching Essentials Cisco CCNA2 You will develop skills in a wide range of computing disciplines including Computer Science, Hardware, Software, Computer Networking and Programming: Technology Campus - Computer Rooms, Computer Workshops and Networking Rooms On successful completion of the course you may progress to University courses such as Computer Science, Computer Systems, Networking or Business and IT. You may also choose a relevant Foundation Degree or Honours Degree at Leeds City College. Some of our students use the skills and qualifications gained on the course to get a job or apprenticeship in the IT or Digital industries.
