The college has fantastic IT facilities in a nice working environment. Students have access to computers outside lessons so that they can undertake private study.
What will I study?
You will spend about a third of your time learning how to write computer programmes and producing a fully documented, substantial, realistic computerised system. You do not have to know how to write computer programmes but you do need to
have a logical mind. Most of you will not have done any programming before. You will be taught how to use structured programming techniques to write programmes in Pascal in year one and object oriented techniques using Delphi in your second year.
Other interesting topics include:
· Computer applications.
· Software engineering.
· Algorithms.
· Operating systems.
· Communication.
· Hardware specification.
· Data representation.
· Social & legal implications of computing.
· Software tools and packages.
How is the course assessed?
AS-Level: On-screen exam and written paper.
A2-Level: Written paper.
