Overview of the programme A rigorous computer programming and database course is accompanied by a variety of compulsory core modules providing the knowledge required to be effective in the computing industry. Additionally there are a number of optional modules covering specialised subject areas. In addition to understanding the underlying principles involved in developing software & databases students are able to study themed optional modules. These can either be in the area of professional management of IT systems or the practical application of networking or commercial programming. The emphasis of the programme is to provide students with the skills to design, implement, trouble-shoot and manage for real-world problems. Students will also undertake dissertation which will typically involve the design and implementation of a significant piece of software.

Course programme
- provides an opportunity for postgraduate study for those whose first degree is not in computing
- provide specialist, technical skills in the areas of networking, or web and mobile development, or Professional Issues and Professional Practice;

As with most masters programmes this has 2 parts, a taught part followed by a dissertation. Students study 6 modules of 20 credits each, followed by a 60 credit dissertation, making a total of 180 credits.
