To Join the Course:
Good hand-eye co-ordination is essential for this course, with a commitment to succeed
in the building environment
Good levels of Mathematics and English are also required.
A foundation in Level 1 construction course such as the BCO is a distinct advantage

Course Units

Common Units:
· Carry Out Safe Working Practices in Construction
· Information, Quantities and Communicating with Others
· Building Methods and Construction Technology

Bricklaying Units:
· Interpret Working Drawings to Set Out Masonry · Structures
· Thin Joint Masonry and Masonry Cladding
· Build Solid Walling, Isolated and Attached Piers
· Build Cavity Walling Forming Masonry Structures

Carpentry Units:
· Carry Out First Fixings Operations · Carry Out Second Fixing
· Erect Structural Carcassing · Carry Out Maintenance

Both Level 2 courses constitute the technical certificate element of an apprenticeship in construction.

Assessment:
Assessment for this course is by a series of practical assignments combined with online exams.

Duration 2 years full time

Progression Route As this course forms an essential part of an apprenticeship in construction, the natural progression is to join an apprenticeship programme.
