Construction and the Built Environment - Trowel Trades
Construction Diploma Level 1 & 2 (formerly FCA & ICA) Brickwork (two evenings a week)(2010/2011)
Study Method:
There a number of study methods including: formal classes, student centred learning; project work and practical activities.
Evening courses (two evenings weekly)
Practical activities 6.00 pm - 9.00 pm
Classroom study 6.00 pm - 9.00 pm
Duration :Two evenings a week
Who the Course is For:
Applications are welcome from anyone with an interest in acquiring brickwork skills and knowledge for industrial use or do-it -yourself.
Assessment:
Continuous assessment by college staff verified externally by the City & Guilds of London Institute.
External taken Health & Safety Test. One externally set exam.
Course Leads To:
You will be initially working towards Level 1 Diploma (Year 1) which then leads to the Level 2 (Year 2). On completion of this award, students who find employment in this trade area can gain evidence and work towards a level 2 NVQ.

Content:

Level 2 Diploma - Year 2
Industrial size brickwork tasks, marked to tolerances specified by the construction industry.
Level 2 Units include
Brick and block walling
Dimensional positioning (setting out)
