Construction Skills for Choice Level 1

Is this course for me?
This course is for students unsure whether they want to be a
bricklayer, carpenter or painter and decorator.
What will I study?
This course covers the skills of bricklaying, joinery and
painting and decorating before making a career choice. Students
also develop key and basic skills to enhance academic
confidence.

What can I do next?
This can lead to further education at the college or a Modern
Apprenticeship. Lewisham College has an excellent reputation in
courses at this level and our student's progress easily into
employment.

What are the entry requirements?
You will need to attend a short interview. No formal
qualifications are needed.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment includes assignments, class work, group work and
projects. Students also have regular meetings with a personal tutor
to discuss progress and to help plan studies. Additional support,
help and guidance is available from the Guidance Team or from our
Study Buddies. A number of visitor activities are arranged
throughout the year.
What will it cost?
If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances,
you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out
when you apply.
