Course programme

Continuing Childcare: Assessing Needs and Developing Plans
This is part of a series of non-accredited continuing professional development courses for childcare workers looking to fulfil the CPD requirements of their position. The workbook starts by looking at observing children using a range of methods, each suited to a different purpose.
It then goes on to discuss how these observations, together with information gathered from other sources, can be used to assess children’s development. It looks at both formative and summative assessments.
It then looks at how these assessments can be used to draw up individual learning plans to meet the needs of each child and how all these feed into a setting’s long, medium and short-term plans.
It finishes by focusing on evaluating the effectiveness of the planning cycle.
