Continuing Childcare: Communication

This is part of a series of non-accredited continuing professional development courses for childcare workers looking to fulfil the CPD requirements of their position. In the workbook you’ll be looking closely at something you do all the time: communicating with children and adults. Effective communication is important for several reasons. Good listening skills show children that what they have to say is important. Responding appropriately and sensitively to what a child says to you allows you to give them instructions that they’ll understand or the support that they need. Communicating clearly and openly with adults contributes to good working relationships with your colleagues and parents. As well as looking at how to communicate well, the workbook covers record-keeping and reporting.
