Course programme

Description

For fun, for a job, for the rest of your life - whatever the motivation, the Essentials Course is a guarantee of gastronomic success!

In just four weeks the Essentials Course transforms students from culinary novices into confident and successful cooks! By mastering basic and complex recipes, methods and techniques, students gain real ability and confidence.

Instruction takes place in the professional atmosphere of the practical kitchen, with key techniques reinforced through demonstrations. Groups are small to allow as much attention as possible from the teaching chef. Our team of chefs are on hand throughout the course to ensure that intensive learning is mixed with enjoyment of the culinary arts. At the end of the class, the Chef will evaluate the dish, and students are free to take home their creation to enjoy at their leisure.

Working in pairs, students are instructed in a variety of recipes ranging from timeless classics to contemporary dishes including vegetarian and ethnic recipes. Menus range from the traditional roast lunch to lighter meals and suppers, as well as tea-time recipes and a simple, yet elegant, buffet.

For extra inspiration, also included in the course is an overnight trip to Paris with a visit to one of the famous Parisian food markets, and to our School, located in the heart of the city. Overnight accommodation and travel costs are included in the course fee.

Students have the option to complete the Royal Institute of Public Health and Hygiene's First Certificate in Food Safety, a mandatory qualification for anyone working with food in the UK.

For those seeking employment after the course, Le Cordon Bleu has strong links with some of the top ski companies, many recruiting direct from the school. Previous students have gone on to complete ski seasons, work on yachts and use their skill to find employment during school and university holidays.
