Steve Giles
Teacher
Steve qualified with Deloitte & Touche in 1983. From 1990 he specialised in special projects & forensics (including headline cases such as Polly Peck & BCCI), working on a variety of governance, risk management, fraud assignments both in the UK and abroad. Steve left Deloittes in 1997 and since then has built up a track record of success on an independent basis in helping executives, through risk-based techniques, to find solutions to a variety of unusual business problems.

- The key aspects of corporate governance in the UK, with particular reference to the UK Code of Corporate Governance
- Directors’ duties and the current focus on accountability (e.g. Senior Managers Regime, the Bribery Act 2010)
- Leadership (the different roles of chairman and CEO) and the responsibilities of executives and NEDs
- Tone at the top and creating an ethical business culture
- How to create an effective and talented board
- Review of the responsibilities of the key board committees, in particular the role of the Audit Committee
