About this course
* Have 2 A Level passes at grade C or above supported by passes in 3 subjects at GCSE grade C or above or equivalent awards.
* Have a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.
* Have a minimum 240 UCAS tariff points.
* Have IELTS level 6.5 or equivalent if English is not your first language.
Preferred subjects include Art, Design, English, Drama and Film Studies. You will need to need to present a portfolio of artwork at your selection interview.
Consideration may be made toward applicants who have practical/work experience which can be shown to be equivalent to formal qualifications.

The emphasis on shared learning across three performace areas (Costume, Technical Effects and Make Up) will allow you to form creative partnerships, reflecting the essentially collaborative nature of the industry.
Structure
BA (Hons) Costume for Performance is taught by high calibre specialists, the course enables you to gain vocational and transferable skills including:
- costume design
- supervision
- historical pattern cutting and construction
- tailoring
- corsetry and frames
- millinery
- surface and textile decoration
- print and dye
Your understanding of costume within performance is further developed with an industry linked project in the second year. You can also opt to undertake either a design or realisation focused project to enable you to further focus your skills for employment.
Additional information
Career opportunities: Costume graduates are working in West End Theatres, at The National Theatre, English National Opera and Royal Opera House as well as working on BBC and high profile film productions. Alternatively, some students progress onto our MA Costume Design programme.
