Overview
This Foundation Degree is designed for trainee counsellors and to ensure the needs of trainees, service providers and the local community are met as effectively as possible. One of the major strengths of this qualification is the close collaboration between trainers, the College and counselling placement providers.
You will gain necessary skills, theoretical knowledge, ethical understanding and personal awareness in preparation for starting practice placement with clients. Work-based learning involves understanding agency policies and procedures, and how to work with colleagues as well as clients.
Research into counselling outcomes has consistently demonstrated that it is the quality of the relationship between the client and counsellor that has the most profound effect. it is this quality of the relationship - based on a deep knowledge of the self and the other - that lies at the heart of this course.
