This course has been designed to help students gain an intermediate level of underpinning knowledge and associated practical skills demanded of a Bricklayer within the construction industry.
Progressing to Level 2 in Brickwork will develop a greater practical skill base and underpin knowledge to position you for a career in the construction industry.

Course programme
The following units will be covered:
- Health, safety and welfare in construction & associated industries
- Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication with others
- Knowledge of construction technology
- Set out masonry structures
- Construct masonry cladding
- Construct thin joint masonry
- Construct solid walling incorporating piers and arches
Each theory unit has its own multiple choice test and practical assessments are set by the awarding body.
We will look to offer work experience wherever possible. In the past, level 1 students have worked on a large variety of work placements producing brickwork walls, extensions and other work for both external clients and other departments within the College.
On completion students can progress on to Level 3 Diploma in Brickwork or on to the part time apprenticeship course if you have gained suitable employment.
