Course programme
During the first term you will investigate the fundamental principles of creative and digital design through a series of practical studio projects and workshops, including:
• design for web and print
• website creation
• digital image manipulation and DTP
• photography
• animation
• film and video
You will progress onto a chosen specialism, extending your research skills and interpreting project briefs. You will build an online portfolio of work and produce a final project for the end-of-year show.
Alongside your technical and practical skills development, all Access courses require students to develop their theoretical study skills so you will also be asked to research and write an essay based on your contextual studies unit.
Assessment Methods:
This is a Level 3, unit-based course where coursework is continuously assessed through presentations, practical projects and written work. You will need to achieve a minimum of 60 credits across a range of module titles - Mandatory, Creative and Digital Media, Study Skills and Contextual Studies and these are accumulated as the year progresses. 45 out of the total 60 credits achieved are graded - pass, merit or distinction. The portfolio of the year's work is externally moderated.
