How the courses are assessed

You will complete a total of 6 core coursework units over 2 years and these will be assessed in a variety of ways: tutor observation, portfolio work, research assignments, individual and group projects. You will also complete a series of short tests for the Functional Skills units.

The Creative & Media Advanced Diploma is an exciting 2 year full time course, which provides ideal hands on knowledge and experience for students who have a keen interest in studying and possibly working within the creative industries. You will study a wide range of media disciplines including Graphic Design, Photography, Film and Television, and will be making artefacts with support of industry professionals and exhibiting to real audiences.

There will be regular visits to exhibitions, galleries and independent cinemas throughout the UK and Europe, opportunities to work alongside industry professionals and also a minimum of 10 days work experience in a media or arts based setting.

You will also learn skills which are relevant to successful learning and future employment. This includes personal learning and thinking skills, an extended project and Mathematics, English and ICT.

This course can also be combined with another A-level of your choice either an arts or media based A-level or one from an alternative field of study if preferred.

Year 1
Learn about capturing film based and digital images in Photography and Film \ Organise a professional exhibition of your work \ Investigate the work of a Creative Arts or Media professional \ Research and produce a creative arts or media artefact as part of an extended project.

Year 2

Explore methods of communication using digital Graphic Designbranding, logos etc \ Learn about online TV broadcasting \ Work with a community group to design and produce a creative arts or media artefact for their organisation \ Evaluate your work reflecting on what you have learnt.
