Course programme
Course description: If you have had an interrupted education in mainstream school and need to build confidence and develop your skills in a supportive environment, this is the course for you.
This is a practical, hands-on course that will develop your skills of media production, collaborative team working, research and communication skills. The course models industry practice with assignments designed to provide outstanding experiences of real work.
In addition to your main programme, you will study English and Maths. Depending on your grades on entry, you will study either Functional Skills or GCSEs English and Maths.
Entry requirements: No qualifications are required for this course except an enthusiasm for media and media production.
Learning outcome: This popular course is ideal if you are interested in pursuing a career in the media, and/or wish to progress to Level 2 and Level 3 study.
The course is made up of practical projects that mirror industry practice and prepare students for higher level study. You will learn project management skills, film and video editing techniques, audio, digital curation, factual and multi-platform production.
Objective: This exciting course will give you a comprehensive introduction to creative media production and will form the foundation for progression onto higher level study and/or a career in the media industry.
Assessment: This is coursework assessed with student work externally Verified by the University Arts London (UAL).
Academic progression: Students who successfully complete the Level 1 course normally progress onto UAL Level 2 Creative Media Production.
Career progression: After completing full Level 3 study, students normally progress to High Education, Apprenticeships or straight into the media industry; working and studying in a variety of different media sectors including:
Games design
Web design
Film and TV production
Film and TV post-production
Social Media
Radio
Costs: There may be a levy to cover the cost of external field trips and associated materials.
