CERTIFICATE TO TEACH IN THE LIFELONG LEARNING SECTOR (CTLLS) COURSE
Summary
The CTLLS qualification is the second stage of the new Initial Teacher Training qualifications (ITT). The Award, which can be completed at Level 3 or 4, is required by Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) and the Security Industry Authority (SIA) for those wishing to teach publicly or privately-funded courses in Further Education; adult, community and employment-based learning; and offender education. The CTLLS Award will support you in achieving LLUK-recognised Associate Teacher Learning and Skills status.
The course is designed to develop your professional capabilities by assessing and evaluating learning and increasing your teaching skills within your specialist area.
Content
The syllabus includes the following mandatory units (18 credits) plus selected units to total 6 additional credits.
- PTLLS or its equivalent
- Planning and Enabling Learning
- Principles and Practice of Assessment
Delivery and assessment
The course is delivered by experienced Lynceus trainers who have military and law enforcement backgrounds, and hold a Cert Ed or PGCE.
The Certificate comprises 120 hours of contact time delivered through blended learning and 30 hours of teaching practice, plus 3 observations totalling a minimum of 3 hours. Written work and a reflective learning journal also go into an electronic portfolio of evidence on which the candidacy for the Certificate is assessed.
Certification
The Lynceus CTLLS course is accredited by EDI (Education Development International) and graduates are registered with the Institute for Learning.
