CYQ Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training

Course review:

The aim of this qualification is to recognise the skills, knowledge and competence required for an individual to work unsupervised as a personal trainer. This includes being able to offer one-to-one training, fitness assessments, nutritional advice and progressive programming which is specific to the individual needs of a client. It is taught through ‘blended learning’ which is a mixture of home study followed by attendance days focussing mainly on the practical aspects of the course. The qualification is broken down into the following units:

· Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health at level 3

· Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme

· Programming personal training with clients

· Delivering personal training sessions

The course is assessed through theory assessments, written questions, case studies and observation. It is mandatory that candidates are already qualified at level 2 to achieve this qualification. On completion candidates will be awarded a CYQ Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training which will also allow them to gain entry onto The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at level 3.
