This course is subject to validation with The Open University.
The course will develop your contemporary dance skills, as well as providing classes in ballet and jazz.
Theoretical modules will look at job roles available within the creative industries, the key historical developments of dance and a research project of your choice.
A key part of the course is providing students with the opportunity to work with some of our many industry partners and gain real hands-on experience of creating and leading workshops, as well as project managing and delivering a community dance project.
There will also be the opportunity to create and perform interdisciplinary work, as well as experience of touring a dance piece.
Leeds City College Dance Collective perform their piece Maps Of Identity which was performed at the Worldskills event at London Excel.

During this course the following subjects will be covered; Dance Studio Practice (Contemporary and Ballet) Working in the Creative Industries Dance Pedagogy Dance in Context Workshop Facilitation Dance Studio Practice (Contemporary and Jazz) Interdisciplinary Project Community Project Independent Research Project Performance Project Across both levels there is an emphasis on learning through practice. Lecture programmes will support the more theoretical units, as well as group work and independent research. Tutorial support will be provided and the use of on-line resources will be imbedded into the course delivery. The course will develop your contemporary dance skills, as well as providing classes in ballet and jazz.
