This course will develop the artistic, creative, technical and professional skills that a dancer needs in order to fully prepare for a varied and high-level career in the dance Industry. You will study a range of dance disciplines including Contemporary, Ballet, and Jazz as well as choreographic, creative, professional and historical studies. A successful first year will enable you to progress to the second year during which you will complete your Extended Diploma (180 credit qualification).

What you need to know
How will I study?

Across both years: Contemporary Technique, Ballet, Jazz and Choreography. Year 1:The units in the first year will include Performance Workshop, Dance Performance, Dance Appreciation, Performing Dance, Choreographing Dances and Developing Movement Skills. Year 2: In the second year you will continue to train in the different techniques and become part of a dance company for which you will create numerous works to take on tour to local schools and colleges.
How will I be taught?

The delivery of the course will be heavily practical including technique classes and creative workshops. It will also include the keeping of log books/journals, note-taking, research, discussion, essays, group projects, theatre trips, video analysis plus other approaches taken by individual tutors. The unit content will often dictate the delivery.
How will I be assessed?

Each unit will have an assessment and the core units shall be externally examined. The assessments range from participation in workshops, performances, technique classes, essays, research and presentations. Each criteria in every unit is only assessed once.
