Decorative Occupations Diploma Level 1

Course Overview
Construction Diplomas are the national standard for crafts people and are accepted in industry.

All qualifications are split into units. The diploma is a college based technical certificate (and an NVQ is work based).

Course Structure
The course is delivered over 1 year, with attendance at college for 2 days per week.

Some topics covered include:

• Surface preparation
• Application of surface coatings
• Paperhanging
• Health & Safety
• Special Paint Techniques
• Spraying
• Estimating

Qualification Aims
All successful students will achieve the L1 Diploma. (Students who gain employment/an apprenticeship in the trade can also gain the NVQ by gathering appropriate Work Based Evidence).

Candidates may then progress onto the L2 Diploma in the following year (or NVQ Level 2 if employed in the trade).

Cost / Equipment
Tuition Fee -£495
Tuition is free for students aged 16 18 and also is available to those aged 19 or over in receipt of certain means tested benefits or their unwaged dependents.

You will be expected to supply:

• Sturdy Footwear
• Simple Calculator
• Scale Rule
• 2H Pencils
• A4Notepad & Lever Arch File
• White Overalls Bib & Brace
