This Build your own MA (BYOMA) short course will give you the chance to develop a digital feature-length film, whether it is an art house documentary or a teen horror movie. The feature film will be progressed up to, but not including the budgeting and marketing stage of development, with the emphasis on creative development of the idea. Students will be encouraged to work collaboratively with writers in creating a script.
You will have online tutorials and seminars and face to face interaction during the residential workshop. You will be able to share your ideas with others in the online group work which will provide a supportive and collaborative creative environment. This is your chance to get that movie off the ground and get a credit for it at the same time. You’ve got the ideas. Stop talking and start doing with Bournemouth University.
This course will enable you to initiate development of a feature-length film (90 minute plus) intended for digital production and destined for exhibition on digital platforms. You will work online within a collaborative framework that supports and prepares you in the processes necessary for continued and successful work in your chosen form. Key to the course will be your collaboration with your peers, sharing ideas and reviewing work. The precise nature of the final output will be negotiated between yourself and your tutor, with a view to advancing the work in a form that is appropriate for the type of artefact to be produced.
