About the Course
This is a one year enhancement course on offer to all full-time students.
Unit 1: Introduction to the principles of Environmental Awareness.
You will learn about the importance of environmental management, the main environmental issues facing organisations today and about the social, moral and legal resposibilities they have in respect of the environment.
Unit 2: Managing Energy Usage.
You will look at energy use in general, and also in college where you will carry out an energy audit.
Unit 3: Managing Waste Disposal
You will learn about the environmental issues relating to waste disposal, the different methods of disposal and how to reduce waste by re-using and re-cycling.
Unit 4: Managing Water Usage
You will learn about the environmental issues around water usage and about ways to reduce it.
Unit 5: Managing Use of Transport
You will learn about the impact of transport on the environment and about issues relating to transport, including conducting a survey to see how these might be reduced for the college.
Unit 6: Reducing the Risk of Pollution
You will learn about the impact of pollution on the environment, how it is produced in the college and how the risks of pollution can be reduced.
Course Aims

The course will provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding of the main environmental issues facing organisations such as managing scarce environmental resources and reducing the risk of pollution.
What are the entry requirements?
How is the course assessed?
For full qualification, all six units must be achieved. Portfolios will be internally assessed and externally moderated.
Fees
No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .
What next?
This is a new qualification. However, upon completion, partnership with additional titles is envisaged, such as Coordinating Environmental Practitioner Skills (level 3).
