3 day intensive course including two days of guided and supported study on underpinning knowledge, one day training at the Academy campus.

Short Description

As skin cells begin to age, they produce excess amounts of free radicals – unstable oxygen molecules that, under ideal circumstances, are removed by naturally occurring anti-oxidants between the skin cells. While ageing, anti-oxidants are in short supply. These free radicals cause damage to cell membranes, proteins and DNA and can eventually break down the collagen, releasing chemicals that cause inflammation in the skin. It is a combination of these cellular and molecular events that leads to skin ageing and formation of wrinkles. In simple terms, as we age, two components of our skin (collagen and elastin), degenerate, setting the stage for the appearance of wrinkles, creases, folds and furrows.
