Course programme
From 1997 to 2003 there was a 74% rise in new cases of diabetes meaning that by 2005 more than 4% of the UK population was classed as having diabetes (Source BBC News 24.02.09). This increase in cases is linked to rising obesity rates and the ageing population. Research also suggests more than half a million people living in the UK have Diabetes but are unaware of it.
With Diabetes becoming increasingly common it is likely that care staff will be working with service users who have the condition therefore it is important that they have a working knowledge of Diabetes, its signs, symptoms and treatments.
Our half day training course for health and social care workers increases knowledge of the causes and treatment of the disease thereby improving staff confidence in responding to diabetic emergencies.
