Course overview

Changes in technology and health care practice are driving radiography forward at a considerable pace. This course will enable you to react to that change in a positive way, and to demonstrate your commitment to your continued professional development. In completing your Major Project you will have the opportunity to carry out a significant piece of research and to act as a positive influence upon professional practice.

The philosophy of our MSc in Radiography course is to promote continued professional development by giving radiographers the opportunity to expand their expertise in radiography. Our course provides a high quality and flexible approach, which permits radiographers to react to the diverse range of issues relating to modern practice.

Core modules

  • Moving Towards Mastery Level 3 - This module is about the transition of learning from Level 3 to Level 4. It enables the student, through negotiation, to plan and deliver proposals for subsequent Level 4 modules. This innovative approach leading to study at Level 4 enables you to explore new ideas and develop a style of thinking which complements the delivery and assessment methods used.
  • Applied Research in Health Practice Level 4 - This module is designed to enable students to confidently approach professional research. There is particular emphasis on the selection, application, analysis and evaluation of a range of research methods. The learning outcomes have been developed to permit students to undertake work-based activities in their exploration of applied research. Consideration of the ethical dimensions of health care research is a key feature of the module. This module will assist students in their undertaking of project or dissertation relating to health care.
  • Radiography Inquiry and Practice (I, II, III) Level 4 - These modules are designed to offer maximum flexibility of subject of study for a diverse group of radiographic practitioners. The learning outcomes approach has been developed to enable the student flexibility to explore issues of relevance to their professional practice and hopefully to the profession generally. The subject topics for these modules are negotiated in the prior Moving Towards Mastery module.
  • Dissertation Level 4 - This module supports students in the preparation and submission of a Masters-stage Dissertation presented in a form equivalent to a maximum of 25,000 words.
