Digital Media (Film Making) BTEC National Diploma

Aim This 1 or 2 year course is designed for people wishing to learn about the building blocks of film and animation.

You will have the opportunity to make and edit your own films, take part in the College film festival and enter local, national and international film competitions.

Content During the first year you will study such topics as:
· Video recording and editing technology
· Tools for designing screen idents and digital images
· Basic animation techniques
· How to plan, produce and evaluate a film based product
· How to work as part of a production team.

During the second year of the course you will build on and extend those skills to include:
· Producing and using professional briefs
· Pre-production and post-production technologies
· Sound on screen
· Corporate and promotional video production.

You will be expected to build a portfolio of evidence suitable for assessment by tutors throughout the year and for presentation to the awarding body at the end of each year.

Progression/career opportunities Students may progress to Higher Education courses or find employment in a wide range of media organisations.

Screening
Students will also be screened (in the College) and must achieve literacy and numeracy at the level appropriate to the course.
