Overview
If you are looking for an introduction to Beauty Therapy whilst learning all about skin care (facial), photographic make-up, face painting, basic nail art, basic make-up, basic manicure/pedicure, create a hair and beauty image; then look no further. With additional training in health and safety and salon reception duties this course is aimed at complete beginners, with no knowledge of the industry, but who are keen to learn about the Beauty industry, before moving onto a higher level course.

Entry Requirements
You must have an interest in the beauty, nails/make up sector and demonstrate an ability to communicate and follow the professional standards set by the awarding bodies. You must be prepared to study the complete study programme, this includes maths and English and employability, enrichments and tutorials.

Course Duration
One year – Full time.

Skills and Benefits
The purpose of this qualification is develop your skills in beauty therapy and will provide you with the foundation for further learning. It will also enable you to perform your own basic services and to assist others in the salon.

Course Assessment
Your work is set by tutors and marked to clearly demonstrate achievement of the learning outcomes via, questioning, practical assessments and assignments. Assessment is sampled by External Verifiers.

Progression
This qualification will prepare you for further study at Level 2 and you may choose to develop your skills in a specialist pathway by undertaking vocational qualifications in VTCT Beauty Therapy at Level 2 such as NVQ Diploma in Nail Services, NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Make-Up), Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques, Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies or Diploma in Hair and Media Make-up.
