This course is ideal if you want to work in the Construction Industry as a Bench Joiner. To enrol on this course you will need to be committed to pursuing a career in the Construction Industry. You will need to have a Basic Skills assessment to demonstrate your level of Literacy and Numeracy.
What will I study?

Producing plain setting out details for bench joinery
Marking out from routine product
Setting out for bench joinery
Health & Safety
Scaffolding
Fitting and assembling products e.g. frames, linings, doors, units and/or fitments, staircases
No work placement is required for this course. However you may need to arrange day release from your place of work to attend during the day. Safety footwear is essential for workshop practical activities. You will need to supply your own stationery.
What can I do after this course?
This course provides you with the skills necessary to gain employment in the industry as a Joiner. On successful completion of this course you could progress onto the NVQ 2: Carpentry & Joinery, providing the relevant site experience, evidence and NVQ units are completed. You could also progress onto a level 3 Diploma: Carpentry & Joinery.
