This is a 2 year course for learners aimed 18+ wishing to achieve the level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Year’s Educator). In the first year you will achieve the certificate in Childcare and Education and in the second year you will achieve the Diploma in Childcare and Education. The course consists of two elements: an academic one where you will study a number of topics within the college, and a practical element which involves two days per week in a variety of settings working with children aged 0-5. English and maths provide the skills you need to operate confidently, effectively and independently in learning, life and work. At Oldham College we are committed to developing these skills throughout your time with us. You will receive an initial assessment and may be able to study these subjects at a higher level so that you are able to continue to have these vital skills developed within your chosen course of study

Assessment will be within the setting, by tutor unit assessment and by Cache external assessment.
You will attend a real work placement for two days per week throughout the course. You will gain experience of working with children across a range of ages between 0 and 5.
You can progress into Higher Education to study a related degree such as Teaching, Social Work, Paediatric Nursing, and Psychology.
