Course Description
The students will work within the Construction Centre, learning all the basic trowel skills and underpinning knowledge required to set bricks and blocks to industrial standards, enabling them to progress within this vocational area.
Entry Requirements
GCSEs: At least 4 GCSEs at Grade E one of which must be English. (Maths required for some subjects)

- Carry out safe working practices
- Use information and details to effectively communitcate with others
- Gain an understanding of building methods and technology
- Construction of basic brickwork structures
- Construction of basic block work structures
- Construction of basic cavity wall structures
- Construction of basic solid walling structures
- Setting out basic rectangular structures

Attendance Modes: Day
Assessment: This course is unit-based with candidates completing portfolio work, unit end tests and practical tasks, in order to gain the qualification. There will also be portfolio and/or end tests in Key Skills, including IT.
Progression Routes: You can continue your studies onto a Level 2 Diploma or move to a work-based vocational course if employment is secured.
