Diploma in Construction - Brickwork
Course Description
The students will work within the Construction Centre, learning all the basic trowel skills and underpinning knowledge required to carry out tasks to industrial standards,enabling them to progress within this vocational area and assisting in gaining NVQ L2.

Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs Grade D, incl. English. (Maths D for some courses). Or Pass in Level 1 Vocational Qual., Merit for BTECs, plus Key Skills Level 1 Comm. (App. of Number for some courses) or equivalent. Diplomas require Functional Skills in ICT, Maths and English.

Modules Studied:

  • Carry out safe working practices
  • Use information and details to effectively communitcate with others and estimate quantities of resources
  • Understanding building methods and technology
  • Thin joint walling and masonry cladding
  • Construction of basic cavity wall structures
  • Construction of basic solid walling structures, including attached and detached piers
  • Interpret drawings and set out masonry structures

Duration: 76 weeks

Attendance Modes: Day

Assessment: This course is unit-based with candidates completing portfolio work, unit end tests and practical tasks, in order to gain the qualification. There will also be portfolio and/or end tests in Key Skills, including IT.

Progression Routes: You can continue your studies onto a Level 3 Diploma or move to a work-based vocational course if employment is secured.
