Course Description
The Construction Diploma Level 1 will give the students the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare surfaces ready to receive finishes. The course will equip the student with the basic theory and practical skills to enable them to progress to Level 2.The Construction Diploma is a nationally recognised qualification based on standards set by industry to define competences required for employment. On this course you will be taught how to complete tasks to the standards defined by the lead body (CAA).

Entry Requirements
GCSEs: At least 4 GCSEs at Grade E one of which must be English. (Maths required for some subjects)

Modules Studied:

• Carry out safe working practices
• Information, quantities, and communicating with others
• Building methods and construction technology
• Erect and dismantle access/working platforms
• Prepare surfaces for paint systems and decoration
• Apply paint systems by brush and roller
• Apply foundation and plain wallpapers

Duration: 38 weeks

Attendance Modes: Day

Assessment: A range of methods will be used, including assignments and continuous practical assessment, with the addition of external testing and portfolio work. Key Skills Level 1 in Communication, Number and IT.

Progression Routes: Painter and Decorator, and progression to The Construction Diploma Level 2.
