  •  A very different learning experience from what I’m used to, so was a bit of a steep learning curve to begin with. The course requires quite a high degree of self-motivation, which after researching different motivational theories can be quite difficult, especially when remote working, but I got there in the end. Thanks for all your support, patience and understanding.

This course is the NEW Level 5 Diploma for 2014 that replaces the DTLLS qualification currently being phased out in 2014. For more information and how to proceed onto this course please contact the course tutor. To help you with the cost of this course we are running a course deposit scheme that spreads the costs of the course over the 12 months study period. On top of this with this being a distance learning course online you can also negate any travel costs. Contact us for more details on our easy ways to pay for the course and getting you started.

All of our Teacher Training courses at PCT2U are run on a part time distance learning basis. You do not need to attend at all. The teaching hours required for the new Diploma programmes must be through an organisational body (i.e. some 1-2-1 teaching situations can apply) Some examples of where to look for teaching hours are: FE Colleges, Sixth form colleges, Specialist colleges, Adult Community Learning, Offender Learning, Work-based learning, the Voluntary sector and Armed Forces. We are MOD approved and you can use your ELCAS credits to pay for this course.

After completing the Diploma you will be eligible to teach any subject in which your employer deems you qualified. It is a mandatory requirement now for some funding bodies to insist that the teacher holds at least a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training to work on government funded courses.

If you hold the CTLLS qualification at Level 4 we can claim credit transfer for you and negate some aspects of the course as well as reduce the cost of the course. Please contact us for more information on our credit transfer process. Sign up with a £150 deposit. Start your course anytime, study when you want, no attendance required.

Ask for more information through Emagister and an assessor will get in touch with you and answer all your questions.

All of our Initial Teacher Training courses at PCt2U are run on a part-time distance learning basis. You do not need to attend at all. We offer flexible routes to learning, no semester schedules and no attendance at lectures required. You can start your course and move through it how you want and at your pace and under your direction. This makes us better than colleges and universities as they only offer traditional prescribed routes to study. Our courses are also fully supported unlike most other organisations offering distance learning, we actually offer detailed feedback and help you understand what is required. . . Our turn around on assignment feedback is quicker we have a 7 day policy if not quicker in this respect. Your tutor can be contacted 24/7 via our Moodle LMS and again you will get an immediate response. Attendance is not required and costs can be kept down for you. Your time can be better spent reading and researching not getting caught up in the classroom so no more school type scenarios that's for kids right. Cost comparisons are massive due to the fact that our model of education using technology and the Internet allows us to reduce costs and pass these benefits onto our students. However we do offer extra mentoring for all our courses that can be booked out as an additional requirement if required so you never get left behind. We are subsequently more cost effective than colleges and universities even if you take out our mentoring options. If you have outside commitments, children to care for and other interests in the evening or unsociable work hours you can still engage with us as we are always here 24/7 - 365 days a year. Our Moodle Learning Management System never sleeps. We will always communicate with you as we are dedicated to that task unlike colleges or universities whose staffs have a million and one things to do in the working week and you can never get to talk to anyone when you need them? Call us now to discuss how we can help you save time and money on your required studies.

We require a completed application form along with a discussion with one of our team to ensure that you meet all of the requirements for entry to this qualification. This includes a good academic level of writing at Level 4.

You will work with your own tutor on the Moodle LMS and create a portfolio of evidence. Observations in the workplace will occur for some of the practical aspects of the course. Assessment will be by a range of methods such as written and practical assignments, professional discussion with your tutor, question and answering via our Moodle forums, observation and practical work assignments. You will be supported by an allocated tutor who will also be your assessor. You will also need to be observed teaching in a professional context for at least eight hours during the course. Further to a risk assessment further charges could apply for observation. Sometimes a video is taken of your teaching session to inform best practice.

No attendance or travelling to our center is required. All your work is assessed online using Moodle and you are supported via Skype and telephone as required.

The five mandatory units of the Certificate can be accepted in place of the Teaching, Learning and Assessment unit in the Diploma.

20 hours of teaching practice and two observations can also be accepted.

Yes once you have the DET Certificate you can apply for QTS through your school and step up to the UK Governments teachers pay scales. . What I would highlight: Initially struggled with the concept of online learning, as it was the first time I had participated with this style of course. Although I now know what to expect from ‘distant learning’, I think my learning style indicates I may need more interaction time (over the phone is sufficient) with a tutor and this was provided via mentoring at pct2u. I know it is not designed for learners who require spoon feeding, but at times talking to someone just can’t be replaced for me.
What could be improved: There were times when things were really difficult to understand and explain, which meant things got lost in translation which caused friction - but 5 mins chat with a ‘human’ resolved this. All that said, I have learnt a lot about education, learners and myself and I am so glad I finished the course, as there were times when I wanted to ‘bail’.
Would you recommend this course?: Yes
