Course overview Are you a natural problem solver who likes fixing things? Do you have a mechanical mind? Are you curious about how things work? There is an ever-increasing need in the electrotechnical industry for highly skilled Technician Engineers, particularly for young men and women who are well trained and adaptable. This course aims to provide sound basic knowledge of electrics/electronics such that the Technician Engineer will be better equipped to meet the challenge of new technology in the 2000's, together with training in current techniques required by the industry. Year 1: Mathematics for Technicians Electrical Applications Communication for Technicians Electrical and Electronic Principals Business Systems for Technicians Principles & Applications of Analogue Electronics Year 2: Engineering Project Electronic Fault Finding Electronic Circuit Manufacture Electrical Installation Electrical Technology Entry requirements A minimum of four GCSEs at grade A, B or C which should include mathematics, physics and either: English language or a subject demonstrating ability in the use of English language, or successful completion of a BTEC level 2 qualifications. Consideration will be given for previous appropriate attainments.
