About this course

To study NVQs at Level 2 you do need to be employed in the Health and Social Care sector, with 6 months experience. NVQ Level 3 is for senior workers. For NVQs at Level 4 in Health and Social Care you must be a specialist practitioner with extended skills and be responsible for the support of other workers. NVQ Registered Managers Award - this can be undertaken by deputy managers and managers who work in community units managing residential care facilities.

What are the opportunities for further studies? Achieving an NVQ will enhance your opportunities to develop a career in Health and Social Care. NVQs are nationally recognised and are a minimum requirement to work in most Health and Social Care settings. A Level 3 NVQ can be used to apply for senior support worker posts, to train to be an NVQ assessor or to access Diploma courses in Health and Social Care. In the case of Oral Health Care the Level 3 NVQ will enable you to register as a qualified Dental Nurse. Level 4 NVQs can be used to enhance promotion prospects, to access degree level courses and to meet the requirements of registration and inspection bodies.
