Diploma Level 3 in Painting and Decorating

Previous painting and decorating experience or successful completion of the Intermediate Painting and Decorating Programme either Diploma level 2 or NVQ 2. An initial assessment may be carried out prior to an offer of a place.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Theory and practical activities to cover units.

• Know to carry out safe working practices
• Information, Quantities, Communicating with Others
• Building methods and Construction Technology
• Apply paint systems by brush and roller
• Paper hanging to ceiling and walls
• Decorative effects, rag rolling, stenciling, advanced graining and marbling
• Efficient working practices
• Carry out specialist Decorative Architectural work
• Preparation of surfaces to an advanced standard
• Paint spraying

Protecting/masking surfaces and storage of materials

NOTE: The course includes one external test paper to cover the units. Externally set Health and Safety test.

Every Friday 9.45-17.00 for two years.

ADDTIONAL INFORMATION

Students will be required to provide their own boots, overalls and general stationery equipment. Safety footwear must be worn in all workshops. We do not allow the use of safety trainers except in Painting and Decorating where this may be appropriate.
