Course overview Are you a natural problem solver who likes fixing things? Do you have a mechanical mind? Are you curious about how things work? All level 3 Diplomas in Engineering are two year part-time courses designed for men and women who are working, or wish to work, in the engineering industry as engineering technicians. Subject to numbers, both qualifications may be offered as an evening class over 3 years. Year 1: Communication for Technicians Engineering Primary Forming Processes Mechanical Principles and Applications Properties and Applications of Engineering Materials Mathematics for Technicians Computer Numerical Control of Machine Tools Year 2: Business Systems for Technicians Engineering Drawing for Technicians Project Further Mechanical Principles and Applications (Mechanical option) Electro, Pneumatic & Hydraulic Systems & Devices Entry requirements GCSE/GCE at grades A, B or C which should include mathematics, and preferably physics or science, English language and engineering drawing. BTEC First Certificate award/level 2 extended certificate Consideration will also be given for previous attainment, maturity and experience.
