The qualification is suitable for those who work or want to work as specialist ESOL teachers in the Lifelong Learning Sector (otherwise known as Further Education or the Learning andSkills sector).
Assessment:
Assessment is undertaken through coursework, portfolio construction and observation of teaching and learning.

Level 5 Diploma for Teaching ESOL in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS)
Entry Requirements:
Candidates should hold a skills specific (i.e. ESOL) qualification at level 3. You should also have access to 150 hours of teaching over the two years of the course.

-Approaches to literacy and ESOL learning and teaching
-Theories and frameworks for ESOL learning and teaching
-Continuing personal and professional development
-Curriculum development for inclusive practice

You will develop a depth of knowledge and understanding reflected in:
-a critical reflection of the relationship between theory and practice
-a considered approach to reading and research
-clear evidence of substantial reading, including professional publications
- E-learning specialists will show you how to enhance your teaching practice through the use of e-learning technologies.
- Advanced practitioners will also deliver sessions on how education theory may be practically applied to improve teaching practice.
- You will also build up a professional development portfolio and undertake a reflective journal to develop your teaching skills.
- Mentor support will enable you to apply theory and research to teaching within the ESOL curriculum.
